Waka Kotahi is advising motorists who cross the Auckland Harbour Bridge at night to be aware of lane closures and detours while maintenance takes place.
Waka Kotahi is advising motorists who cross the Auckland Harbour Bridge at night to be aware of lane closures and detours while maintenance takes place.
From Sunday 20 March to Thursday 28 April we will be strengthening the safety barriers along the southbound outer lanes, followed by the northbound outer lanes.
A minimum of two lanes in both directions will remain open across the bridge at all times.
Closure details are as follows:
Auckland Harbour Bridge State Highway 1 (SH1) southbound outer lanes (lanes 1 & 2):
- Sunday 20 to Thursday 24 March 9:30pm-5am
- Sunday 27 to Thursday 31 March 9:30pm-5am
- Sunday 3 to Thursday 7 April 9:30pm-5am
The Shelly Beach Road off-ramp will be closed during this closure.
Auckland Harbour Bridge State Highway 1 (SH1) northbound outer lanes (lanes 1 & 2):
- Sunday 3 to Thursday 7 April 9:30pm-5am
- Sunday 10 to Wednesday 13 April 9:30pm-5am
- Tuesday 19 to Thursday 21 April 9:30pm-5am
- Tuesday 26 to Thursday 28 April 9.30pm-5am
The Curran Street on-ramp and Stafford Road off-ramp will be closed during this closure.
There will be no closures of any of the outer lanes on Easter or Anzac Day public holidays.
During this closure the following detours will be signposted:
- Southbound closure:
- For Herne Bay, take Fanshawe Street off-ramp.
- Northbound closure:
- From Westhaven, take Fanshawe Street on-ramp.
- For Northcote Point, take Onewa Road off-ramp.
If we finish work on the southbound outer lanes ahead of schedule, we will begin work on the northbound outer lanes early.
We apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.
This work is weather dependent and if required, will be carried out on the following available night.
