Waka Kotahi is advising motorists to plan ahead for southbound overnight closures on State Highway 1 between Porirua and Tawa.

The southbound motorway lanes will be closed on Wednesday 16 March and Thursday 17 March from 9pm to 4am for gantry installations.

The overnight closures will allow crews to safely install 6.2 meter overhead beams, which will span the width of the southbound lanes. The gantry installations are part of an ongoing programme of improvements, with a number already being installed along SH1.

Southbound traffic will detour via Mungavin offramp, onto Titahi Bay Road, through Kenepuru Drive and Main Road, and back onto SH1 via Takapu Road.

While disruptions are expected to be minimal, motorists are advised to plan ahead.Waka Kotahi thanks drivers for their ongoing patience.

The work is dependant on weather conditions and may be postponed at short notice. Updates will be posted on the Waka Kotahi Facebook and Twitter accounts.
