State Highway 2 will be closed during the day at Devil’s Elbow on State Highway 2, approximately 30km north of Napier, next month, while Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency contractors undertake road repair works.

The road will be closed between 7am and 6pm on Saturday 12 February and Sunday 13 February between the intersections of Aropaoanui Road and Halliburton Road. The road will reopen between 6pm Saturday 12 February and 7am Sunday 13 February, with a 30km/h temporary speed limit in place.

As there is no suitable detour, motorists are asked to plan ahead and schedule their travel for outside the closure periods.

In the case of poor weather or other unforeseen circumstances, work may need to be postponed. People are advised to visit the Waka Kotahi Journey Planner website (journeys.nzta.govt.nz(external link)) or Central North Island social media pages for up to date information on the works.

Waka Kotahi thanks everyone for their patience while we undertake these important works to improve the safety and resilience of the state highway network.

Plan ahead for a safe, enjoyable journey. Keep up to date with:
