Hebei University of Technology is the third learning centre in China to be launched by Massey University.

Massey University is launching its third dedicated learning centre in China for students who want to study at the university but are unable to travel to New Zealand due to the temporary closure of borders.

The Massey Learning Centre at the Langfang Campus of Hebei University of Technology (HEBUT) will provide students the opportunity to begin their studies with Massey, while utilising the campus facilities at one of China’s leading universities. Online classes will be delivered by Massey, New Zealand’s leading online provider, with the additional support of local learning support advisors.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Students and Global Engagement Tere McGonagle-Daly says the launch follows the success of Massey’s offshore learning centres at Nanjing University of Finance and Economics (NUFE) and Hainan University in China earlier this year.

“The Massey Learning Centre at HEBUT further cements our strategic partnership with Hebei University of Technology and allows international students to begin their learning journey with Massey in a welcoming environment with other students, despite the current travel restrictions.”

Hebei University of Technology (HEBUT) is a key provincial university an hour south of Beijing, which specialises in engineering studies and combines multiple academic areas including technology, science, economics, management and arts.

Classes will be delivered to up to 400 students from Massey Business School and the College of Sciences via a range of online delivery methods. The Massey students will have access to all the same excellent facilities as HEBUT’s enrolled students such as the university library; gyms; sports facilities and the student canteen. HEBUT has also undertaken a significant refurbishment project to provide the students with newly renovated accommodation facilities.

Secretary of the Party Committee, President and Associate Professor of Hebei University of Technology Langfang Branch Lu Jingshan says HEBUT is honoured to partner with Massey in launching the Learning Centre.

“Hebei University of Technology is committed to international collaboration and we look forward to working with Massey to provide an excellent learning environment for students who wish to begin their online courses here.”

The Massey Learning Centre at Hebei University of Technology adds to a growing suite of learning centres Massey is launching in China to support those students wanting to study at the university but unable to due to travel restrictions.

It will welcome its first cohort at the beginning of Semester 1, 2022. To find out more, visit www.massey.ac.nz/learningcentre.
