On 22 October 2021, the Environmental Protection Authority received a request from Trans-Tasman Resources Limited to reconsider its 2016 application for marine consents to carry out ironsand mining activities in the South Taranaki Bight.
We are seeking direction from the High Court to help guide the way we process the reconsideration of this application. This is in accordance with the Supreme Court judgment of 30 September 2021.
This High Court application will be provided to parties to the Court proceedings. A summary of the directions sought will be posted on our website and notified to all parties to the 2016 application. We are unable to comment further until we receive clarification of next steps.
