Earlier this year Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency completed the first section of highway surface renewal between Geraldine and Fairlie at Kakahu.

The second stage of this work kicks off next week, 18 October, and will take around five weeks to late November. The main work will begin after Labour Weekend.

Drivers will be delayed for up to 15 minutes during daytimes on weekdays while this work is underway, says Tresca Forrester, Journey Manager for Waka Kotahi.

Traffic signals and Stop/Go manual traffic management will be used throughout when the highway is down to a single lane. The school bus will be accommodated at its key times.

“Thanks to all regular road users for being a little bit patient while this work is completed ahead of the summer holiday period,” says Ms Forrester.
