Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency is advising road users to plan ahead when travelling on Wainui Road/State Highway 35 (SH35) as work gets underway this week on footpath improvements.

The improvement work includes painting line markings and installing tactile ground surface indicators on the section of Wainui Road between the Endcliffe Road and Sponge Bay Road intersections.

The work is scheduled to start on Wednesday 6 October and is expected to be completed by Monday 25 October, depending on weather.

Parts of the footpath/cycleway will be closed during this time, and temporary speed restrictions will be in place.

Motorists, pedestrians and cyclists are all advised to plan ahead and factor extra time into their journeys. Motorists are urged to adhere to the temporary speed restrictions through the worksites for the safety of road workers and other road users.

Plan ahead for a safe, enjoyable journey. Keep up to date with:
