West Aucklanders are being urged to make the most of a digital hub providing key sources of important information during lockdown.

Originally launched during the first Alert Level 4 Lockdown, the West Auckland Hub has been refreshed with information specifically for families in West Auckland. It provides ideas, resources and tips for family wellbeing and includes everything from videos on Māori games and tips for cooking to local walking routes, fun play initiatives and ways to stay connected. 

It also includes links to a number of key websites containing the latest COVID-19-related updates and key community welfare providers, including emergency food support.

Local Board support

With support from Henderson-Massey, Waitākere Ranges and Whau Local Boards, Sport Waitākere facilitated the Hub’s development alongside a number of partners as part of a community collaboration called West Auckland Together.

Several organisations have reached out to ensure their services are listed on the digital portal, and Sport Waitākere Chief Executive, Lynette Adams, is encouraging West Aucklanders to make the most of the hub.

“With so much uncertainty during Alert Level 4 and 3, its an invaluable tool for whānau to easily access information and resources that is relevant to them,” she says.

“There’s information and resources from multiple organisations throughout West Auckland and beyond in one place, the hub makes it easy to find what you need with minimal effort.

“We know that with multiple different messages coming from different places it can be confusing, and the aim of the hub is to reduce that complexity and confusion as much as possible.

“It’s a one-stop-shop providing access to a wide range of services and information for everybody to use, so I really encourage people to get online and see what’s on offer for them.”
