This afternoon Palestine Solidarity Aotearoa is joining with the Palestine Youth Association to hold an online rally and protest demanding the Aotearoa New Zealand government take meaningful steps to stand up for Palestinians.

This takes the place of the usual monthly rally in Auckland which has had to be cancelled because of Covid 19.

New Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett has “ruled out the possibility of reaching a peace agreement with the Palestinians on his watch” and yet Aotearoa New Zealand is in denial about this.

Bennett has boasted he is the first Israeli Prime Minister to tell a US President he will not negotiate peace with Palestinians.

The so-called two-state solutions is in tatters and our government is on the wrong side of history in refusing to condemn the racism, apartheid and brutality of the Israeli regime against Palestinians.

It is also on the wrong side of history in refusing to put boycotts and sanctions against Israel in place despite appeals from Palestinian civil society groups from the past 16 years.

Today’s rally will include music, poetry and talks from Palestinians around Aotearoa and solidarity activists from other groups.

The online rally is at 4pm today, Saturday 4 September 2021, at this link.
