Business statement

Hon Chris Hipkins, Leader of the House, made a statement about the business of the House for the sitting week commencing on Tuesday, 24 August 2021.

Oral questions

Twelve questions to Ministers were answered.

Government business

The Education and Training (Teaching Council Fees and Costs) Amendment Bill was read a first time and referred to the Education and Workforce Committee, to be reported by 16 September 2021. The committee has authority to meet at any time while the House is sitting (except during oral questions), during any evening on a day on which there has been a sitting of the House, and on a Friday in a week in which there has been a sitting of the House, and on a Friday in a week in which there has been a sitting of the House and outside the Wellington area, despite Standing Orders 193, 195, and 196.

The debate on the second reading of the Crown Pastoral Land Reform Bill was interrupted with six speeches remaining.
