The Auckland girls’ choir was founded in 1996 and is unique in that it offers opportunity to girls from the wide Auckland area to learn musical and vocal skills as well as developing values to do their very best in everything and foster leadership qualities.
Over the years we have travelled to USA, Hobart, Australia taking part in music festivals and contests.
On one occasion we received a standing ovation when singing in the Sydney Opera House.
We sang with Andre Rieu on one of his visits to Auckland and perform on occasions with the APO, the Auckland Choral society and overseas choirs who come to NZ on tour.
Membership is by audition and the ethnic representation within the choir shows the multicultural aspect of our city.
As well as the musical and choral training, the choir programme fosters moral values of honesty, hard work, respect for others, co-operation and loyalty, commitment, compassion and forgiveness in all phases of life.
The girls are Ambassadors for Auckland and take pride in performing for Civic and Community events giving enjoyment to others.
Our programme today shows the wide range of music genres and styles we explore including some you will recognise. We are pleased to have this opportunity to visit St Jude’s and hope you enjoy our singing.
