Motorists on State Highway 1 should be prepared for upcoming night closures to the southbound Glenside/Churton Park on and off-ramps over the coming weeks.

Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency is currently installing fibre along the southbound section of SH1 between Johnsonville and Tawa, with work currently underway at the Glenside/Churton Park on and off-ramps.

When complete, it will help provide improved CCTV coverage and mean that Waka Kotahi can help keep people better informed when using the state highway network.

To conduct this work safely and to minimise any disruption to people using the state highway, the work will continue on Sunday to Thursday nights for two weeks, starting Sunday 15 August.

During this period, the southbound Glenside/Churton Park on and off-ramps will be closed between 9pm to 5am.

Motorists should be prepared to use an alternative route during these times.

The works can be postponed at short notice due to various factors.

Waka Kotahi thanks the public for their patience while these improvements to the network are underway.

Plan ahead for a safe, enjoyable journey. Keep up to date with:
