Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency advises State Highway 2 will be closed to westbound traffic between the Te Puna roundabout and for surfacing repair works overnight on Monday (2 August).

Work will be undertaken between 9pm and 4am (Tuesday morning). A detour will be in place for those travelling toward Te Puna, with traffic directed down Te Puna Station Road, then Te Puna Road, before rejoining SH2 at the Te Puna roundabout.

Motorists are encouraged to take care and follow the directions of traffic management staff and signs.

In the event of bad weather or other unforeseen circumstances, work may be postponed. Visit the Waka Kotahi Journey Planner (journeys.nzta.govt.nz) website for up to date information on the road closure, detours, traffic, road works and delays.

Waka Kotahi thanks motorists for their patience.

Plan ahead for a safe, enjoyable journey. Keep up to date with:
