New speed limits will be active from Hope to Wakefield in Tasman District from tomorrow, Friday 30 July.

Due to the extremely wet weather conditions over recent weeks, there will also be further work in relation to these changes in coming weeks on SH6.

This will include widening the highway shoulder and completing new line markings at the Wakefield change point, where the speed limits will change from 80 to 60. This is so people are clear about where the speed limit changes.

Waka Kotahi will also be changing the batteries and reprogramming speeds in the Speed Indicator Devices located at Hope (between Edens Road and Ranzau Road) and Brightwater (south of Ellis Street).

The speed indicator devices show people what speed they are going. They help to encourage people to drive to the speed limit and remind them to slow down if they are driving above the speed limit.

Thanks to all road users for slowing down around road crews and people working close to the highway in coming days.
