indicators: Weekly as at 19 July 2021 – Information release

The experimental weekly series provides an
early indicator of employment and labour market changes in a more timely
manner than the monthly employment indicators series.
Key facts
The 6-day series includes jobs with a pay
period equal to or less than 7 days, while the 20-day series covers jobs
with pay periods of 14 days or fewer. The 34-day series includes all jobs
regardless of their pay period.
The 34-day series indicated that for the
latest week, the week ended 13 June 2021:
- the number of paid jobs (compared with the
previous week) were:- 2,276,590 total paid jobs (down 10,440 or
0.46 percent) - 96,770 paid jobs in primary industries (down
3,130 or 3.13 percent) - 430,220 paid jobs in goods-producing industries
(up 300 or 0.07 percent) - 1,689,200 in services industries (down 5,130
or 0.30 percent) - 60,390 in unclassified industries (down 2,480
or 3.94 percent)
- 2,276,590 total paid jobs (down 10,440 or
- the median income (compared with the previous
week) was:- $1,096.83 (up $15.63 or 1.45 percent).
