Taste of Japan is a well-established interactive Japanese cultural festival held in Auckland where visitors are encouraged to engage with Japanese culture and food. Created by the New Zealand Japan Society of Auckland Inc, it is also a celebration of NZJS’s 60th anniversary, acting as a bridge between New Zealand and Japan.

It will be held at LIFE Central, 25 Normanby Road, Mt Eden, on 24 July from 10am to 4pm.

Educational and entertaining, we give people of all ages the chance to have a ‘taste of Japan’ trying out different activities, including origami, “Shodo” calligraphy, trying on kimono, or tea ceremony demonstrations. We will also have craft market stalls to buy items from.

NZJS Haere Mai Taiko drumming group will welcome you into the event from 10am.

Train: You can catch the Western Line from Britomart, or get off the Southern Line at Newmarket and transfer to the Western Line. Due to CRL closures, you’ll need to get off at Grafton Station and walk the remaining way to Normanby Road. Or catch a bus to 40 Mt Eden Road, and walk the remaining way. Onsite car parking is limited and LIFE Central has access to a nearby parking building for ease of entry and exit.
