Integration with Hatch set to streamline Canon New Zealand’s efforts to support local retailers across New Zealand

Auckland, NEW ZEALAND – Global omnichannel commerce solutions provider, Hatch, today announces an exciting collaboration with Canon New Zealand. Hatch is implementing its technology to easily connect Canon New Zealand’s consumers with local retailers, enabling customers to purchase from the brand’s range of consumer digital imaging products, including cameras, camera accessories, and home to small business printers.

Headquartered in Amsterdam and with offices in EMEA, APAC and CIS regions, Hatch enables consumers to connect with retailers of the world’s biggest brands and purchase products when and where is best for them.

In integrating Hatch’s e-commerce referral solution to its website, Canon New Zealand has streamlined its digital path to purchase for consumers, by linking them from a product page, directly to local retailers’ online stores that have stock available for purchase. With the local pricing of Canon New Zealand’s consumer products set at dealer discretion, Hatch enables the customer to easily view pricing by providing a direct link to retailers’ online stores. This assists consumers to assess retail value for themselves.

According to Brad Gibbons, General Manager – General Manager – Consumer Imaging and Services, Canon New Zealand, Hatch’s innovative retail solution not only enables Canon New Zealand to drive competition in the market, but creates a mutually beneficial outcome for customers and retailers alike.

“We want to ensure our consumers are being provided with the best possible value, services and experiences, and to help achieve this, we are committed to working closely with our local retailers. Hatch helped us double our retail referral traffic from our brand site to retail partner sites in one month, indicating that New Zealand consumers and retailers are benefiting from our collaboration,” says Mr Gibbons.

In 2020, New Zealand saw a 20% increase in e-commerce sales, according to eCommerceDB, contributing to the worldwide growth rate of 26%. In the same year, the top five e-commerce markets in New Zealand saw a combined $909 million in net sales, with growth expected to continue in this trajectory over the next decade. According to Statista, e-commerce activities have continued to grow rapidly in New Zealand. As of January 2021, 88% of shoppers aged between 16 and 64 years of age had recently searched for a product or service to buy online. The share of online shoppers in New Zealand is currently forecast to surge to 83% by 2026.

Commenting on the new partnership between Hatch and Canon New Zealand, Joris Kroese, Founder and CEO of Hatch, said: “This latest partnership is expected to help accelerate sales for local retailers who stock Canon products. ‘Where-to-Buy’ enables consumers to check retailers’ online store stock availability and local store proximity through an innovative widget. We enable an enhanced customer experience by strengthening brand-retailer relationships.”
