Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency advises traffic management will be in place on State Highway 1 throughout the Central Waikato next week.

Contractors will be removing samples of asphalt surfacing laid during the summer period, which will then be taken away for laboratory testing. This testing ensures the surface has been constructed as expected, and helps confirm the anticipated lifetime of the surface.

Sites are located on SH1 between Putaruru and Waiouru, with approximately half a day required at each site. When contractors are on site the road will operate under Stop/Go traffic management, with a 30km/h temporary speed limit in place to allow contractors to complete the work required to remove the sample material.

Work commences on Sunday 16 May and will run until Thursday 20 May, weather dependent.

Road users are asked to follow the directions of traffic management staff and signage.

Waka Kotahi Transport Agency thanks motorists for their patience.

Plan ahead for a safe, enjoyable journey this summer. Keep up to date with:
