This Friday (14 May) is the closing date for submissions for Palmerston North City Council’s 10-Year Plan: Palmy 2021-31. The one-month consultation period opened on 14 April. During that time we have held consultation meetings with sector groups, communities and drop-in sessions, as well as some engagement through high schools.
“We’re really keen for people to get their submissions to us, as this is an opportunity to tell Councillors their views on the plan,” says David Murphy, acting General Manager – Strategy and Planning.
“We have a very tight turnaround from submissions closing to them being considered by Council as three days of hearings have been planned from 25 – 27 May.”
To date, 184 submissions have been received. “We’re hoping to receive a lot more submissions this week, as has happened during past consultations.”
All submissions will be available to view from 21 May, on Council’s website.
The Committee of Council will deliberate on the submissions at their 9 June meeting and are expected to make a recommendation of approval of the final plan, strategies, policies and plans at their 23 June meeting. Following Audit NZ sign-off, the final 10-Year Plan should be adopted on 7 July.
“We’ve been pleased with the interest and attendance at our sessions, and feedback received on social media, however, submitting is the ideal way for Councillors to consider views.”
“There are lots of opportunities for people to tell us ‘ngā whāinga matua what really matters:
