The project involves construction of new terminal buildings and an overbridge. It also includes some coastal reclamation, dredging of Picton Harbour, works within the Waitohi Awa, creation of seawalls, and culvert upgrades.
Resource consent applications were jointly lodged by Port Marlborough, Kiwirail, and Marlborough District Council.
An expert consenting panel has now approved earthworks, land use, and water-related consents under the COVID-19 Recovery (Fast-track Consenting) Act 2020.
The Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) provides advice and administrative support for the Panel Convener, Judge Newhook, and the expert consenting panels he appoints. The EPA is not involved in the decision-making.
