Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency advises that resurfacing and maintenance night works will take place on State Highway 2 north of Te Puna, from Monday 3 May 2021.

Work will be undertaken at night between 7pm and 6am to minimise disruption to road users. The works are scheduled to take place as follows:

  • SH2 between Te Puna Stream Bridge and Te Puna Quarry Road:
Monday 3 May and Tuesday 4 May
Stop/Go Traffic Management will be in place during the works with a 30km/h speed limit.
  • SH2 Te Puna Stream Bridge, between Plummers Point Road and Munro Road:
Wednesday 5 May and Thursday 6 May
Stop/Go Traffic Management will be in place during the works with a 30km/h speed limit.
During the day a temporary speed limit of 50km/h will apply. Even though these are night works there may be some delays in the days following.

These works are part of the Waka Kotahi road maintenance programme, which will see repairs and reseals on state highways across the Bay of Plenty to ensure the safety and resilience of the state highway network.

Please take extra care, reduce your speed and follow directions of traffic management staff and signage.

In the event of bad weather or other unforeseen circumstances, work may be postponed.

Waka Kotahi thanks motorists for their patience.
