Construction of a new urban arterial route for Queenstown has been approved by an expert consenting panel, under the COVID-19 Recovery (Fast-track Consenting) Act 2020.

The Queenstown Lakes District Council project includes associated infrastructure, structures, walkways, a shared path and landscaping.

The expert consenting panel has today granted a resource consent with conditions, and confirmed a notice of requirement, which protects the land for its future designated purpose.

The Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) provides advice and administrative support for the Panel Convener, Judge Newhook, and the expert consenting panels he appoints. The EPA is not involved in the decision-making.
