- Taste of Cultures event takes foodies on culinary journey
3 mins ago
Sri Lankan fried rice, pad thai, banh mi, falafels, Cambodian prawn fish cakes washed down with a kawakawa drink or fruity Pacific juice – visitors were spoilt for choice at EIT’s Taste of Cultures event on Wednesday. In recognition of the Race Relations Day on 21 March, EIT celebrated the multiculturalism of Aotearoa and the diversity of EIT’s staff and student body (Students are coming from 42 different countries!).
Hundreds of people took the opportunity to get a taste of fresh street food from all over the world while grooving to waiata (beautifully performed by Te Ūranga Waka staff and students), African drums, and Irish folk songs. Level 5 Diploma students in both Cookery and Patisserie were running the stalls and – as part of their programme – supervised the level 4 cookery student helpers.
