AUT alumnus wins major artist residency

Known for his live performances, visual artist Kalisolaite ‘Uhila was gifted the Art Foundation’s sought-after Harriet Friedlander Residency in Wellington in December.

The $100,000 Harriet Friedlander residency is gifted every two years, and enables the recipient to experience New York.

Since completing his visual arts degree at AUT, Tongan-born Kalisolaite has received a number of accolades including an Auckland Fringe Award and the contemporary Pacific Artist Award at the Creative New Zealand Pasifika Arts Awards. He was also a finalist for the 2014 Walters Prize.
