Waitangi Day is a national holiday that commemorates the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi between the tangata whenua and the Crown.
A collaboration between Te Kaunihera o Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland Council and Vector Lights, the 2021 lighting show is designed to represent the locations where the treaty was signed and some of the signatories who signed it.
This year is the 181st anniversary of the Treaty signing in Manukau.
