Today, President Biden took executive action to tackle the climate crisis both here in the US and around the world. In response, WWF released the following statement from Alejandro Pérez, senior vice president, policy and government affairs:

“Today’s executive actions are further evidence that the Biden-Harris administration is fully committed to an “all hands on deck” approach to tackling the climate crisis. The President has made clear he intends to put climate change at the center of US domestic, foreign and national security policy and position the US once again as a leader in the international efforts to address it.

“By instituting a holistic approach, the President is ensuring that climate change becomes a priority for every relevant federal agency and the federal government will lead by example. As the Administration moves to turn these announcements into action, including through new national commitments and efforts to increase global ambition under the Paris Agreement, we also encourage it to fully engage communities and institutions across the country, as well as our international partners.

“With today’s actions, President Biden has demonstrated that protecting the American people is intertwined with protecting our planet. WWF looks forward to working to help turn these bold promises into ambitious and effective action.”
