Motorists should plan for delays as crews work Sunday 31 January in an effort to complete works on State Highway 3 between Norfolk Road and Rugby Road (Tariki underpass) ahead of Waitangi weekend.
The road renewal work, which was scheduled to take six weeks, is tracking well and is expected to be completed ahead of schedule.
Crews have been onsite Monday to Saturday for two weeks, rebuilding the road between 5.30am and 2.30pm to help minimise disruption to traffic.
This week, crews will also work Sunday between 7am and 5pm with Stop/Go traffic management in place. Motorists travelling the route are advised to plan for delays of up to 30mins and consider taking SH45 if possible, to avid queuing.
Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency thanks everyone for their patience while this important work is completed.
Plan ahead for a safe, enjoyable journey this summer. Keep up to date with:
