Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency is advising that, due to strong winds expected on State Highway 2 through the Remutaka Hill, this evening’s road works have been cancelled.
MetService is forecasting gusts reaching 140 km/h this afternoon and evening, so Waka Kotahi is warning motorists that the Remutaka Hill road may close at short notice for safety.
While the road remains open for now, motorists are advised to take extra care and drive to the conditions.
