The weekly Hotspot Watch, looking at drying soils across the country, is attached,
This week hotspots are found over  much of Northland, northern Auckland, the northern Coromandel Peninsula, a small portion of East Cape, and coastal Wairarapa. The New Zealand Drought Index shows that  drought is in place in the northern half of the Far North.
Soils are also drying out rapidly in the South Island and during the past week a
new, small hotspot has formed in coastal Hurunui District..
