Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency advises sluicing of the State Highway 3 Uruti Valley slip site by helicopter will take place on Wednesday (13 January 2020) to remove the remaining debris.

Much of the site was cleared prior to Christmas but work needing to be undertaken by helicopter couldn’t go ahead due to unfavourable flying conditions.

Our contractors will be on-site from 7am to 5pm, weather permitting.

During this work, there will be two road closures of approximately 45 minutes. The first closure will be from 8.30am to approximately 9.15am and the second from approximately 9.45am to 10.30am.

Motorists should plan ahead and time their travel for outside the road closures, where possible.

Waka Kotahi aims to have the site open to two lanes when the work is completed.

Waka Kotahi thanks motorists for their patience while we carry out this essential work.

Plan ahead for a safe, enjoyable journey this summer. Keep up to date with:
