Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency advises that surfacing works will take place on State Highway 2 Takitimu Drive, underneath the Waihi Road overbridge on Wednesday 13 January.

The work will be completed overnight to reduce the impact on motorists. Minor delays are expected and motorists are advised to take care, plan ahead and allow extra time for their journeys.

Lane closures and 50km/h temporary speed limit will be in place from 7pm overnight. The road will be open from 6am under normal operating conditions.

These works are part of the Waka Kotahi spring/summer road maintenance programme, which will see repairs and reseals on state highways across the Bay of Plenty to ensure the safety and resilience of the state highway network. The purpose of these works is to smooth the uneven surface in this section of road, with road reconstruction works planned for the late 2021 construction season.

If you are travelling at these times please take extra care, reduce your speed and follow directions of traffic management staff and signage.

In the event of bad weather or other unforeseen circumstances, work will be postponed. Visit the interactive Waka Kotahi Journey Planner website (journeys.nzta.govt.nz) for the latest information on roadworks, traffic, road closures and detours to help plan your trip.

Waka Kotahi thanks motorists for their patience.

Plan ahead for a safe, enjoyable journey this summer. Keep up to date with:
