Anyone who’s thinking of studying at NorthTec in 2021 is invited to attend next week’s Open Day at the Raumanga campus.

The event will run from 10am to 2pm on Friday, 22 January, and will be held at the Interactive Learning Centre, accessed via Gate 1 on Raumanga Valley Road, Whangārei.

Potential learners can find out about the fees-free courses on offer in 2021, with additional programmes now added to the fees-free tertiary study list which forms part of the country’s post-Covid recovery scheme.

This includes the New Zealand Diploma in Enrolled Nursing (Level 5), an 18-month programme which prepares students to work as Enrolled Nurses across the health sector.

It also includes the New Zealand Certificate in Conservation (Operations) – a Level 4 qualification which is newly offered by NorthTec in 2021, and can lead on to higher level studies in environmental management at diploma and degree level.

Staff from the different study areas will be on hand to answer questions at the Open Day, and help people make decisions about their future.

With most NorthTec programmes for 2021 getting under way on or around 15 February, it’s important to get in applications for enrolment and financial support as soon as possible.

NorthTec offers more than 100 programmes covering a wide range of vocational training, including seven degrees plus a large number of diplomas and certificates. Study options include nursing and social services; construction and engineering; creative industries; te reo Māori; business and administration; hospitality and tourism; hairdressing and beauty therapy; primary industries; commercial transport; sport and recreation; conservation. NorthTec also delivers foundation programmes which can lead to employment or study at a higher level.
