Screen industry employment data: 2017/18

Key facts
In 2018, compared with 2017:
- Total earnings by employees, including contractors, in the screen industry increased 3 percent to $940 million.
- Earnings by contractors working in production and post-production increased 19 percent, from $394 million to $469 million. Contractors accounted for half of all earnings in 2018.
- The number of contractors in the screen industry rose by 41 percent from 4,900 to 6,900, and accounted for more than a third of those employed in the screen industry in 2018.
