International migration: September 2020

International migration statistics give the latest outcomes-based measure of migration, which includes estimates of migrants entering or leaving New Zealand.
Year ended September 2020 (compared with year ended September 2019) provisional estimates were:
- migrant arrivals – 130,100 (± 1,400), down 12.1 percent
- migrant departures – 62,300 (± 600), down 29.7 percent
- annual net migration gain – 67,700 (± 1,500), up from 59,400 (± 200).
