New Zealand Food Safety (NZFS) is proposing an update to the verification requirements for bee product
processors requiring risk management programmes as detailed in the Animal Products Notice: Export Verification
Requirements.
The proposed changes are related to:
- raising the ceiling verification step from step 6 (6-monthly) to step 7 (annually)
- introducing off-site verification at step 6 where the verifier determines it appropriate
- verification requirements related to COVID-19. These changes are intended to assist in futureproofing verification requirements against potential impacts of COVID-19.

Note, that any submission you make becomes public information. People can ask for copies of submissions under the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA). The OIA says we have to make submissions available unless we have a good reason for withholding it. That is explained in sections 6 and 9 of the OIA.
