The September update of the Treasury’s NZ Activity Index (NZAC) was released today.

Key points to note:

  • Activity in September is around 1% up on the same month last year, after a decline of 1.7% in August when alert level restrictions were reinstated.
  • Most constituent indicators are above 2019 levels.
  • The NZAC value for August was revised down from -1.4% in the previous release to -1.7% due to negative revisions in the value of electronic card spending, light traffic movements and new job advertisements.

The next update of the NZAC for October activity is scheduled for publication on 13 November.

For more details, you’ll find the NZAC first up in this week’s Weekly Economic Update.
