Employment indicators: Weekly as at 5 October 2020

Key facts

The 6-day series includes jobs with a pay period equal to or less than 7 days, while the 20-day series covers jobs with pay periods of 14 days or fewer. The 34-day series includes all jobs regardless of their pay period.

The 34-day series indicated that for the latest week, the week ended 30 August 2020:

    • the number of paid jobs (compared with the previous week) were:
     ○ 2,196,960 total paid jobs (up 1,810 or 0.08 percent)
    ○ 100,530 paid jobs in primary industries (down 220 or 0.22 percent)
    ○ 409,460 paid jobs in goods-producing industries (up 180 or 0.04 percent)
    ○ 1,631,180 in services industries (up 1,290 or 0.08 percent)
    ○ 55,790 in unclassified industries (up 560 or 1.01 percent).

• the median income (compared with the previous week) was:

    ○ $1,035.00 (up $0.13 or 0.01 percent).
