Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency advises resurfacing works will take place in multiple locations around Tauranga over the next week, starting this Sunday.
These works are part of the Waka Kotahi spring/summer road maintenance programme, which will see repairs and reseals on state highways across the Bay of Plenty.
Work will be undertaken at night, between 6pm to 6am, to reduce the impact on motorists. Delays are expected and motorists are asked to take extra care.
- State Highway 36 Pyes Pa roundabout: Stop/Go traffic management will be in place on the nights of Sunday 20 and Monday 21 September.
- State Highway 29/State Highway 29A/SH36 Tauriko roundabout: A lane closure will be in place during works on the night of Tuesday 22 September.
- State Highway 2 Bethlehem, westbound between Parau Drive and Taniwha Place: On Wednesday 23 September the westbound portion of State Highway 2 between the Bethlehem Road roundabout and Te Paeroa Road roundabout will close from 8pm with a detour in place. All westbound traffic will be detoured via Bethlehem Road, Carmichael Road and Te Paeroa Road, then guided under Stop/Go traffic control to continue their journey west.
There will be temporary speed limits of 30km/h in place during all of the above works.
In the event of bad weather or other unforeseen circumstances, work will be postponed. Visit the interactive Waka Kotahi Journey Planner website(external link) for the latest information on roadworks, traffic, road closures and detours to help plan your trip.
Waka Kotahi thanks motorists for their patience.
