17 September, 2020: Airtasker today officially enters New Zealand, its third international market in a rapid wave of expansion plans across the APAC region.

Airtasker is a trusted marketplace for local services that connects people who need work done with people looking to work. People and businesses can simply post a task and then choose from rated, verified and reviewed people ready to work straight away.
Airtasker has amassed a global following with more than 4.1m community members across Australia, the UK and Ireland generating more than NZD$1.2bn (A$1.1bn) in job opportunities. With more than 30,000 monthly active Taskers creating over NZD$142m (A$130m) in gross marketplace volume annually – Airtasker has become a significant contributor to the flexible labour economy.
Speaking of the announcement, Co-founder and CEO Tim Fung said:
“Whilst the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in significant job loss and an increase in the labour force underutilisation rate to more than 12 per cent (source), we’re excited by the contribution we can make to help rebuild the New Zealand economy from the ground up.
In each of our marketplaces, in Australia, the UK and Ireland we’ve been inspired by the way that our community has been able to use Airtasker to adapt to the rapidly changing situation – leveraging flexible work to earn an income when times have gotten tough or to create additional working opportunities in the new normal. Right now we believe that Airtasker’s mission – to empower people to realise the full value of their skills – is more relevant than ever to people in New Zealand.”
Tim said: “At Airtasker we believe that every person has unique skills and we’re passionate about giving people an opportunity to earn an income by sharing those skills. It’s been awesome to see many of our Taskers earn upwards of A$10,000 per month during the pandemic. It’s been truly inspiring to see people use Airtasker to create an income using their unique skills. For example, when Tania, a videographer was furloughed from her permanent full-time role, she started taking on courier tasks, even puppy delivery amongst editing jobs on Airtasker, enabling her to earn and reinvest into equipment and upskill to support the next phase of her career.”
Tim added: “In just under three weeks in New Zealand, we’ve seen a range from the everyday tasks like moving, and furniture assembly tasks to rarer tasks like and CV writing. Our research indicates there is significant untapped potential in the handyman, gardening and cleaning categories.”
For Posters needing tasks done, it’s free to post a task.
For Taskers, Airtasker provides the flexibility to earn the way you want, with whom you want and doing what you want to do. Plus you decide what is a fair price for the task – you’re in control.
