English language schools struggling as a result of the border closure to international students can now apply for funding from the Private Training Establishment (PTE) English Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Provision Fund.
The government announced in July the $1.5 million fund for English language schools to help increase demand for English language training. The funding will also help with upskilling and improving the employability of migrant and dependents of New Zealand citizens and residents.
The PTE ESOL Provision Fund, managed by the Tertiary Education Commission, is part of a long-term recovery plan for the international education sector.
