Massey University signs agreement with Kaplan International (NZ).

Massey University and Kaplan International (NZ) are excited to announce the signing of a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in order to formalise the relationship between the two organisations.

“We recognised that we have many interests in common and felt there would be mutual benefits from increasing our collaboration and cooperation. The signing of this MOU represents a high-level agreement to work closer together and is set to become the basis for more specific talks about how we codevelop new programmes to support our students,” says Massey University Deputy Vice-Chancellor Students and Alumni, Tere McGonagle-Daly.

The initial opportunities identified for collaboration between the two parties include English language provision, international pathway offerings, consultation services in student recruitment and conversion and a university careers guidance platform. Together the partners hope to strengthen their global reach and build on combined networks and resources.

“We very much look forward to working with Massey University, initially focussing on supplementing the university’s own recruitment efforts to maximise and expand the pathway opportunities available to international students to earn a Massey University degree. We then hope to leverage the breadth of assets across both parties to challenge the current educational landscape with a view to new offerings and supplemental support services. At every step, both Kaplan and the University will be focused on providing a quality education and a distinctive student experience” says Rob Regan, Managing Director, Kaplan ANZ.

Throughout Kaplan’s 80-year history, Kaplan has helped students from around the world achieve their educational aspirations. Kaplan currently operates in more than 30 countries and serves more than 1 million students annually through its global operations.

Since it was founded almost 100 years ago, Massey University has become one of the largest New Zealand Universities, with around 30,000 enrolled students. The University operates from three campuses spread throughout the North Island, as well as being New Zealand’s leading online university – teaching off campus students for the past 60 years. Massey’s blended approach offers students from around the world the ability to tailor their study to meet their needs while remaining closely connected with industry, professional organisations and local communities.

The signing of this MOU represents a commitment to continue to develop and expand a framework of cooperation between the institutions to establish mutually beneficial programmes to improve quality and continue to support educational opportunity in New Zealand and around the world.
