Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency is advising that work to fix a burst water main at State Highway 1 near Acheron Road in Mana will take place overnight, meaning all lanes will remain open during peak traffic hours this evening.

It was initially expected that the work would affect evening peak traffic, however contractors who assessed the water main have determined that the repair work can be carried out by Wellington Water overnight.

There will be a brief lane closure before 2pm today for preparatory works. All lanes will be open during evening peak traffic hours, which will be monitored so that work can begin as soon as traffic volumes have sufficiently reduced.

While the work is underway overnight, the right northbound lane and the right turning bay into Acheron Road will be closed. Motorists are advised to take extra care when driving through the work site.

It is expected that the work will be completed by tomorrow, with the possibility of some works continuing through to the morning.
