Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency advises minor delays are expected on State Highway 30/Te Ngae Road at the Sala Street intersection this Sunday, 14 June.
Contractors will be on site between 9am-3pm on Sunday to remove several trees outside Carters.
During this time one of the westbound lanes, as well as the Sala Street turning bay, will be closed as a safety precaution. While normal traffic will still be able to turn left into Sala Street, heavy vehicles will not and should consider alternate routes.
Stop/Go traffic management will be operating on the remaining westbound lane and a temporary 30km/h speed limit will be in place.
The footpath outside Carters will also be closed to the public. Pedestrians will be directed around the work site by the traffic controllers.
The trees need to be removed to make room for the shared path that will be constructed on SH30/Te Ngae Road as part of the Eastern Corridor Stage One project.
The work is being completed on Sunday to minimise the effect on traffic using the corridor.
Waka Kotahi asks motorists to take extra care when travelling through the site and thanks them for their patience.
