Waka Kotahi advises the Waiotahi effluent disposal site on State Highway 2 will be closed for an upgrade from Monday (15 June) to the following Friday (26 June).

The on-site campervan disposal unit will be unavailable from Monday 15 to Thursday 18 June, and the stock effluent disposal station will be unavailable for the full duration of the works.

The Freedom Camping website has a link to a map on the AA website, as well as the Camper Mate and Camping NZ apps, where campervan drivers can identify their closest alternate disposal site: www.freedomcamping.org/on-the-road/waste-disposal/(external link)

These works will have minimal disruption for most motorists, with all work off the state highway and a row of cones used to close access to the site.

Work is weather dependent and was scheduled for after Gypsy Day/Moving Day to minimise disruption to those people needing to move stock.

Waka Kotahi thanks road users, particularly stock truck and campervan drivers, for their patience and cooperation.

Plan ahead for a safe, enjoyable journey. Keep up to date with:
