EIT Executive Dean Natalie Waran is a member of the new NZIST Academic Board.
EIT Executive Dean– Faculty of Education, Humanities and Health Science, Prof Natalie Waran has been appointed to the New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology Council’s newly formed Academic Board.
The twelve new members come from a wide range of backgrounds from across the NZIST subsidiaries and ITOs.
“I am extremely honoured to have been invited to join such an experienced and committed group of academics from across the tertiary education sector. I’m committed to helping ensure that we collectively provide a national approach to the development and delivery of robust, relevant and accessible education and training at all levels”, Prof Nat Waran said.
“It’s a valuable opportunity to learn together about how we can harmonise academic policy and processes, flexible delivery, innovative education and training, and impactful applied research. We want to continue to meet the needs of all of our learners, industries and communities at regional and national level.”
The Academic Board, chaired by Interim Chief Executive Chris Collins, met for the first time on 6 May.
In a press release distributed by NZIST Council Chair Murray Strong highlighted the calibre of applicants for the twelve places on the Academic Board.
“This is an outstanding board with a great mix of knowledge and skills that will serve NZIST, its subsidiaries, the education sector and the country well. We look forward to their contribution and to working with them,” Mr Strong said.
NZIST explained that the Academic Board will provide strategic academic direction and leadership, and a national infrastructure to ensure quality, compliance and consistency of teaching and learning. It will reflect the principles of Ōritetanga (tertiary success for everyone), innovation, harmonisation and collaboration across the NZIST academic network.
