  • Five EIT postgraduate students receive CEO scholarships

“EIT has enabled me to reignite my creative energy and channel it into a new direction,” says Phil Yeo. The professional photographer and EIT Toihoukura Te Hono ki Toi (Poutiriao) Master of Professional Creative Practice student is among five CEO Postgraduate Scholarship recipients.

Abstract painter Elle Freeman is also completing a Master of Professional Creative Practice at Toihoukura. She highlighted in her application the scholarship would enable her to purchase professional boards and materials needed for her final exam and exhibition in July.

Nursing graduates Kacy Christie and Harata Kenny both received a scholarship. They are enrolled in a Postgraduate Diploma in Health Science. Kacy was delighted to have been awarded the scholarship and says, “I started study at EIT several years ago and the support and comradeship with my peers has continued into my postgraduate study.”

Harata was very happy and appreciative to hear of the good news. “The scholarship has lightened my financial burden and will enable me to purchase a new laptop. This will support me in my studies and enable me to continue my journey on becoming a nurse practitioner.”

Te Ūranga Waka lecturer and student Matewai Timu completes this year’s recipients. Matewai is studying Te Tohu Tītohu mō Te Aka Whakaaroaro, a Postgraduate Diploma of Professional Practice.

For EIT, the scholarship is an opportunity to tangibly recognise research activity, and to assist graduates undertaking postgraduate study in their chosen field at EIT.
