The latest report on the new bridge is the Urban and Landscape Design Framework – from the end of 2019:

Although COVID-19 has affected how Waka Kotahi does things – across the delivery team, project management, design, property, planning etc, with people continuing to work in small bubbles to meet the new level 3 guidelines, it has not noticeably affected the progress of this bridge project in Otago.

The primary activity areas for the new Beaumont Bridge are: design, resource consents and property acquisition, and these are all ongoing.

It remains the aim to have a tender for the physical construction work advertised either prior to, or immediately after Christmas 2020, with construction to follow early 2021. We originally said we wanted the tendering process to occur in the second half of 2020, and we are still aiming for that.

(See earlier update excerpt below).

Previous detail from when the design contract was awarded in 2018 still holds:

Depending on the timing and outcome of this design phase, and subject to construction funding approval, this $20 million project could be underway by the second half of 2020. The design and supervision of construction contract is worth $1.8 million.
