Aucklanders are advised to steer clear of all playgrounds and not play on basketball courts or sports fields during the COVID-19 lockdown.
These are classed as areas where people congregate and so are off-limits to ensure the lockdown is as effective as possible – the risk of community transmission of COVID-19 is too high to keep them open.
But it’s not all bad news, you can still go for a walk, run or bike through your local park. Children can get some much-needed fresh air and stretch their legs outdoors as long as they maintain a two-metre distance from other visitors.
Remember to stay local, keep your distance from others and exercise only where you can go on foot or bike.
