Unelected bureaucrats have decided to spend $4.5 million bailing out the already-subsidised arts sector.New Zealand Taxpayers’ Union spokesman Jordan Williams asks, “What makes artists so special that they deserve a sector-specific bailout?””Taxpayer-funded arts is a nice-to-have and should not be a spending priority at this moment of crisis. This money would be far better spent on front line health services or general economic relief.”
