Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency advises that resurfacing works will be taking place at three sites in and around Rotorua during the week beginning Sunday 22 March.
Works will be undertaken at night to reduce the impact on motorists. Delays are expected and motorists are asked to drive with caution.
Full or partial road closures
- State Highway 30 Rotoma Hills, between Matahi Road and State Highway 34 – These works will take place between 6pm and 6am on Thursday 26 March. Due to road width constraints, we will need to close the road for short durations of up to 30 minutes while heavy machinery is moved within the worksite and the road sealing takes place.
There will be a temporary speed limit of 30km/hour in place for the duration of the works.
Stop/Go traffic management and temporary speed limits
- State Highway 5 Old Taupo Road with State Highway 30A Pukuatua Street and La Trobe Place intersections – Stop/Go traffic management will be in place between 6pm and 6am on the nights of Sunday 22 March to Wednesday 25 March.
There will be a temporary speed limit of 30km/hour in place both overnight and during the day for the duration of the works. - SH5 and Dansey Road and Western Road intersections – Stop/Go traffic management will be in place between 6pm and 6am on the nights of Sunday 22 March and Monday 23 March.
There will be temporary speed limits of 30km/hour in place between 6pm and 6am, and 50km/hour outside these hours.
Motorists are asked to travel carefully through the work site to ensure the safety of themselves, other road users and road workers.
In the event of bad weather or other unforeseen circumstances, work will be postponed. Any changes will be communicated on NZTA’s traffic website journeys.nzta.govt.nz(external link)
